Q. What brands of golf cars and utility vehicles do you sell?
A. We are an authorized distributor of Club Car and a dealer for E-Z-GO, Cushman, Taylor-Dunn, and Icon. This means we sell their new vehicles and are authorized to service and purchase parts directly from the manufacturers. We also take golf cars and utility vehicles in on trade, so there is always plenty of used vehicles to choose from. Think of us like a new car dealership but without the slimy feeling.
Q. What are the pros and cons of buying a new golf car vs. buying a used golf car?
A. Buying new gives you the full manufacturer’s warranty and the confidence that the golf car was not abused by a previous owner. Buying used typically gives you a lower purchase price and is a great entry-level option if you are dipping your toe into the golf car world. Many of the used golf cars we get in are from golf courses; these generic looking golf cars are a great canvas to customize and upgrade to make it uniquely yours.
Q. Should I buy a gas or electric golf car?
A. It depends on your needs and preference. Gas has longer range but require you to service it at least once a year. People who are mechanically inclined trust gas golf cars more because they can work on the engines themselves. Electric golf cars come in two options: flooded lead acid and lithium. Flooded lead acid electric golf cars need you to manually add water to each battery and will last 3-5 years if you take care of them. They are cheaper up front but cost a lot to replace every 3-5 years. Plus you do not want to overfill the batteries because you will have battery acid on the inside of your golf car and on your garage floor. Lithium golf cars have a higher price tag but they have more power than a gas golf car and require no maintenance or care. They will typically last 10+ years. Lithium golf cars have gained tremendous popularity since 2020 and now are more common than gas or flooded lead acid golf cars.
Q. What’s the difference between a golf car and a utility vehicle?
A. Golf cars are primarily designed for moving people, although four passenger golf cars typically have a fold down back seat that acts as a platform to carry lightweight items. Utility vehicles are primarily used to haul equipment and are more rugged.
Q. Can I make a golf car street legal?
A. Yes but the requirements vary by city, county, and state. A LSV (low speed vehicle) is a golf car or utility vehicle that is built by the manufacturer to be street legal by federal standards, comes with a VIN, and must be registered and insured. To turn your golf car into a street legal vehicle, consult your local laws.
Q. Do you offer financing?
A. Yes! We offer flexible financing for new and used golf cars and utility vehicles through several partners including DLL and Sheffield. You can fill out a form on our website or call any of our stores for more details.
Q. Can I trade in my old golf car?
A. We love trade-ins! Bring your old golf car or send your salesperson as many detailed pictures as possible to get a trade value.
Q. Do I need insurance for my golf car?
A. You are not required to have insurance for your golf car unless your city requires it to meet their street legal requirements. However, we recommend getting a policy to cover your golf car whether it is street legal or not. This can be done by calling your insurance agent and adding it to your house policy.
Q. What kind of warranty is included?
A. New golf cars come with a full manufacturer’s warranty. Used golf cars may be eligible for a limited warranty. We also offer extended warranties that cover battery replacement. Contact your Clear Creek salesperson for more information.
Q. What brands of golf cars do you service?
A. We service the major brands of Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, and Icon. If you have another brand of golf car, contact your closest Clear Creek Golf Car to find out if yours is serviceable.
Q. How often does my golf car need service?
A. As a general rule, golf cars should be serviced every 12 months and have tire pressure, alignment, brakes, wheel bearings, and shocks and bushings inspected, plus have the front end lubricated. Gas golf cars: changing the oil, replacing the fuel filter, oil filter, and air filter, replacing the spark plug, checking drive and starter belts, and testing the battery load and voltage. Flooded lead acid golf cars: test battery pack, grease fittings, check water levels, treat battery terminals, and lubricate charger and receptacle. Lithium golf cars: treat battery terminals, grease fittings, and lubricate charger and receptacle.
Q. How long do golf car batteries last?
A. Generally, flooded lead acid batteries should last 3-5 years if properly cared for. Lithium batteries should last 10+ years.
